Im sorry, can you help me out here, I understand there are different frequencies for different areas, but whya are there 2 or 3 for each in the list dsviper22 posted? Also, Viper, you live around me, and obviously you listen to med reports, have you ever heard anything come off med 5 for L&M besides the nurse saying "go ahead"? I hear med 8 perfectly fine.

I would really like to read that Cmed manual, but I cant open it, when i try to, it freezes my computer, maybe you could copy paste it into a post?

But If you go to the database, go under CT, and under Hartford, you get a list of the med frequencies not too far down the page, I dont understand the difference between the frequency and the "input" listed next to it. What is it?

redfarrariowner,

The pdf manual is for Northcentral CMED, which covers the hartford county area. Your local CMED may have different procedures.

To answer your question, MED 5 might not be repeated while MED 8 is.

The input is the frequency that field units transmit on. It goes into the repeater, and is retransmitted on the output frequency at a higher elevation/power. Field units listen on the output.

So if I programmed both the input and output of the med channel, i might here more than just the hopital on med 5?

It depends. It sounds like MED 5 might be a duplex operation, where the field unit is transmitting on the input frequency, and the hospital on the output. In this mode of operation, the repeater is turned off, but the hospital can hear the field unit because it has a tall antenna. If the field unit is near you (few miles), then you might be able to hear it on the input frequency. You're hearing the hospital reply because they transmit with more power from a tall antenna.

Hope this helps!

If you want to listen to my scanner.. you can go to incidentbroadcast.com i provide the New London County feed on there. You can hear a lot of med traffic.. Most of the time you're only going to get Med-9 and Med-8 or Med-5.. havent really heard any of the others due to the med channels being region specific

Ok, thanks guys, I'll try listening on the input and output transmission to see if it works better. I am only a couple miles from L&M, and I have a base antenna on my roof, about 60 feet up, and this part of Groton is a little higher than New London, but we'll see, thanks!

FOx is still Woodbridge, not Nelson, last I hear on MED 10 they still use for example "Nelson 758"
