• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am have a Motorola PMLN7032A microphone that has a right angle HDMI connector that I need pass through the rear Jeep JL sheet metal under the Jeep and then into the plastic rear tub where my XPR5550 and an ICOM ID-4100A will be mounted. Typical cable glands will not work due to the size of the HDMI connector and I am thinking that a cable gland with a split rubber section would be ideal. I did find an interesting option from icotek that uses different modules based on individual cable sizes that looks like a good option. Does anyone have any experience with these or an alternate solution?

Is there any way to avoid running the cable outside the vehicle and keep it inside? I ran coax and big power cables out of my engine compartment then into the frame to under the back seat on a JT but the cables had no connectors and there are grommets built in for that.

The challenge is getting multiple cables into the plastic tub (think small trunk) in the back of the jeep which is mounted flush to the body pan. If I go this route I will need to provide some level of protection over the cables which of course I would like to avoid.

I just ran my cables under the carpet on the JK. Had 2 APX 7500 mobiles in there for 10 years. Never had an issue. I know the JL changed a little but the box is the same location as the JK.

Is it actual HDMI or just using an HDMI connector, i.e. is it using the correct hdmi pins and everything? if so could you adapt it down to mini or micro hdmi and back?

It looks like Icotek will send a free sample. I would be curious the prices. I looked at something similar that was way pricey. I want to build a NEMA box for surge protection that will mount outside and accept terminated Type N and PL259 connectors through a gland nut.
