Went to Cache Creek casino <http://www.cachecreek.com/> to check out comedian Ron White <http://www.tatersalad.com/>. Since I'm not a gambler, I brought a couple of scanners (Pro-92 and BC-246T) with me to provide some entertainment before and after the show. I brought the 246 for it's CloseCall feature to pick up any unlicensed frequencies. I also brought the Pro-92 because of it's ability to 'track' LTR systems without having to program frequencies in LCN order.
Before I left, I went to the web to get any licensed frequencies. The list is provided below. I entered them into the BC-246T with Tone Alert On and Tone Search On. Listening in while I was in the parking lot, I heard a lot of 'beeps' (from Tone Alert), but no tones were decoded. This was the first clue that the radios were probably LTR and not carrier squelch.
Programming the Pro-92 with the licenses frequencies started showing me the LTR TGIDs. Since the Pro-92 would 'give up' the LCN number, it was easy to start making a list of LCN numbers. Unlike the Pro-97, the Pro-92 requires voice traffic to be able to decode home channel number. Note that this number is simply part of the LCN TGID.
I started to get hungry and decided it was time to go in. I had heard that Las Vegas casinos aren't exactly friendly towards folks bringing in scanners, I thought I had better be discreet. I put a stubby antenna on the 246. I programmed it in CloseCall auto store. I enabled Tone Search and Repeater Find. I hid the radio in my vest pocket and proceeded to get some food before the show. After dinner, I took several laps around the casino floor to help increase the chances of frequency finds.
When I got back to the truck (before the show), I programmed the Pro-92 with the new Close Call hits. It was rewarding to see these new (unlicensed) frequencies were part of the Casino's LTR system. I started compiling a list of TGIDs. I went to the show (great show!) and brought back the BC-246T to snag more frequencies. I didn't find any.
The show was packed, and I decided to hang out a little bit more and log some more TGIDs. At around 2am, I decided it was time to head back to my hotel (not Cache Creek!
). Since I decided I probably wouldn't be back for a while, I wanted to come back the next 'morning' to get more data.
The next morning, I came back to log more TGIDs. I was still missing a couple of LCNs. I could monitor a familiar 'LTR data burst', but noone was talking on those channels, so I couldn't get an LCN. These frequenceis are in the 'Missing LCN'list. I have also included a CloseCall hit that didn't appear to be part of the LTR system, nor did I hear any other traffic on it. Maybe I missed something, or maybe it's noise.
As a verification, I programmed the LTR system into the BC-246T and verified that it would track the system just like the Pro-92 (which doesn't require LCN numbers). The BC-246T wouls track given the configuration below, so I'm pretty confident in the LCN numbers I found.
Hopefully someone will take this information as a starting point and get the LCNs for the missing frequencies.
