CalFire "Local Nets" - an overview

CalFire Local Nets are used to dispatch / page CalFire units

except

CalFire Local Net in San Luis Obispo County is used as a Command Net - (with dispatch of CalFire and local fire units being done on County Net 154.385R)

------------------------------------

CalFire Local Nets are also used to dispatch some VFDs, local FDs, county FDs, etc - such as -

Amador El Dorado Local Net 151.19 is also used to dispatch some local fire units in Amador County (Co.) and El Dorado Co. and maybe Alpine County

Butte Local 151.40 also used to dispatch local FDs in Butte Co. plus Berry Creek Rancheria VFD (Indian FD)

San Mateo Santa Cruz Local 151.37 also used for 3 VFD in San Mateo Co. and Pajaro Valley Fire District in Santa Cruz Co.

Lassen Modoc Local 151.25 also used to dispatch 5 FDs in Plumas County

Sonoma Lake Local also used to dispatch Cloverdale FD in Sonoma County

Nevada Yuba Placer Local East also used to dispatch some local FDs including Squaw Valley FD

Santa Clara Local 151.445 also used to dispatch 5 VFDs in Santa Clara County plus South Santa Clara County FD plus San Antonio Valley VFD in Alameda County

Shasta Trinity Local 151.16 is also used to dispatch local FDs in Shasta County

Siskiyou Local 151.325 is also used to dispatch local FDs in Siskiyou County

Tehama Glenn Local 151.37 is also used to dispatch local FDs in Tehama County

for south Calif we have

San Bernardino Local West 151.445 also has Arrowhead FD + Dagget FD + Yermo FD + Newbury FD + Highland FD + Yucaipa FD and maybe San Bernardino County FD units

San Bernardino Local East 151.325 is also used to dispatch Blythe FD - maybe

Monterey Local West 151.3325 is also used to dispatch Soledad FD + Carmel Highland FD + Aromas Tri County FD + Cachagua FD + Cayuma FD + Mid Coast FD + Sounty Monterey County FD + maybe Big Sur FD

Fresno Kings Local 154.445 is used to dispatch Fresno County FD units - maybe not a real cdf local net

Madera Mariposa Merced Local 1 on 151.46 is also used by Mariposa County FD units and Madera County FD units

San Diego Local 1 151.19 is also used to dispatch ??? rural VFDs and Indian FDs ?

Riverside Local West 151.385 is also used to dispatch Banning FD + Beaumont FD + Temecula FD + Indian FDs + Riverside County FD units

Riverside Local East 151.13 is also used to dispatch Riverside County FD units

Tuolumne Calaveras Local 151.175 is also used to dispatch local fire units in both counties

Tulare County Local 151.19 is also used to dispatch Tulare Indian FD maybe

------------------

sometimes I have not been super specific when using the term "local FDs" vs "county FD" - maybe we can sort that out later - this can be determined by looking at the dispatch agreements that are signed with CalFire - these agreements basically supply the local FDs (either a VFD or a County FD or a City FD) with dispatch service and with radio channels

corrections and comments welcomed

Update - the following CalFire Local Nets are used to only dispatch CalFire units - in other words - there are no other agencies dispatched on these channels

Humboldt Del Norte - 151.25

Mendocino - 151.385 - possibly this channel is actually used as a Command channel with Cal Fire units being dispatched on the Mendocino County fire channels

Nevada Yuba Placer West - 151.325

San Bernardino East - 151.325

San Bernardino Owens Valley - 151.25

Fresno 1 - 151.385 - possibly used as a Command channel

Fresno 2 - 151.16 - possibly used as a Command channel

Riverside 2 - 151.175 - used as a Command channel

Marin - 151.04 - maybe is not a real Local Channel - maybe only used by mutual aid units responding into Marin County - but this channel typically shows up in the basic CalFire radio loads

(note - lets define a Command Channel as a channel used by units after they are paged on a separate dispatch channel)

lets update San Diego Local 1 151.19 to -

dispatch for CalFire units and San Diego County Fire Authority units plus Campo Indian Reservation FD plus La Jolla Indian FD plus Mesa Grande Indian FD

- [ since North Comm dispatches all the Indian FDs in the north end of the county - per North County Dispatch JPA - bottom of the page - (interactive map shows - Sta 19 is Pauma - Sta 18 is Rincon - Sta 15 is Pala - etc) ]

--------------------

San Diego Cal Fire Local Net 2 (the new channel) is perhaps just used as a Command net

In San Diego County the VFD's were consolidated into the San Diego County Fire Authority and is now a CalFire contract. They are dispatched by Monte Vista on the San Diego-Imperial County RCS NextGen system. Vhf frequencies are used generally for wildland fire operations.

The Cal Fire San Benito/Monterey (BEU) is dispatched off of 151.250 (BEU-EAST), units on the peninsula (Pebble, Carmel Hill, Highlands) respond to the dispatch on 151.3325 (BEU-WEST) and operate on WEST for the duration of the incident then roll back to EAST after they have cleared the incident. All other units and stations still respond and operate on EAST.

Campo Fire or Campo Indian Fire is dispatched by Heartland? or are they the same? Heartland website says they dispatch "Campo Fire"

So by my definition - 151.3325 would be a Command channel - even though CalFire dont call it that

San Bernardino Unit, Local 3 is used to dispatch the Owens Valley Division, which covers Inyo and Mono Counties. San Bernardino Unit Local 3 is 151.2500. They only have stations (2) in Inyo County, one north of Bishop where the crew camp is located and one in Independence. They contract out/trade for SRA protection in Mono County. All private lands within the boundaries of the Humboldt-Toiyabe NF and the Inyo NF are protected by those forests and paid by the state to do so. Private lands outside the national forest boundaries are protected by the BLM - Bishop Field Office. They are not paid for this protection, however, Cal Fire provides protection of all BLM lands in Inyo County in a trade arrangement. This is from notes in my late husband's notebooks.

I lived on the west side of the Sierra and our county contracted with Cal Fire for dispatch and other services. Jurisdictions in California are very complex and local agreements and contracts make it hard to figure out

Do you need to start a new thread every time you've "discovered" something "new"?

All you've done is recycle database info in multiple threads without adding anything of value.

Maybe keep it all in "zergs thoughts" or something else we can ignore?

------------------------

To recap for Santa Cruz County - 10 fire stations are dispatched on Cal Fire Local 151.37 - and approx 25 fire stations are dispatched on County Red 154.325

Having spent my entire career in CDF Region 4, let me address those units specifically:

Tulare Unit utilizes Local Net for dispatch. Any extended incident goes to the preassigned CAL FIRE Command Net(s). They do not dispatch for the Tule Indian Reservation. That is done by the Tulare County Fire Department (Fire-Com).

Fresno-King Unit uses District 1 for unit wide dispatch and then switches to the assigned radio plan as you posted. Keep in mind, this large department didn’t always exist in Fresno County. At one time, there were multiple fire dispatch frequencies for the various departments (West Side Fire District, Mid-Valley Fire District, Fig Garden Fire District, and CDF). When everything consolidated, the decision was made to keep the frequencies and utilize them as they are now. FKU has always had two Local nets, just based on the geographic size.

Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit dispatches all incidents on Local 1, and the switches to the assigned Command Nets (Merced Command, City Command for Madera City, or Madera Command for Madera County). Local 2 is used as a Command Net for larger scale incidents. The preassigned CAL FIRE Command Nets are used for wild land fires.

San Benito-Monterey works as others have posted.

Tuolumne-Calaveras dispatches all fire agencies in both counties on TCU Local. Tuolumne County has its own Command Net for everyday use and the same will soon exist for Calaveras County. All Calaveras County incidents continue to run on Local until the Calaveras Command is implemented. TCU utilizes CAL FIRE Command 12 for all fires in the unit.

I listened to some Mendocino County feeds for a while - heard some admin type traffic on "Local" - heard "County Red" mentioned as a Command channel - its probably not the right time of year to try to figure out how they use Local exactly

For Mendocino, the CAL FIRE units are dispatched on Local and switch to the appropriate County Command Net for incidents in the LRA. SRA incidents remain on either Local or the assigned CAL FIRE Command Net.

Also, Amador-El Dorado doesn’t dispatch anyone in Alpine County. TCU is the Administrative Unit for Alpine County. Bear Valley Fire is dispatched by TCU, with the others being handled by Alpine County Sheriff.

Batt4410 - for Mendocino County - are the local government FDs dispatched on 153.95 or CDF Local? Are some calls dispatched on both CDF Local and 153.95 at the same time?

I can’t remember who contracts for dispatch services in MEU, so I can’t help you on that one. I don‘t believe they do any simulcast dispatching on any of the frequencies.

Alpine County 911 calls go to Minden Nv-Douglas County Sheriff. During business hours calls for Alpine County SO are then relayed to the Sheriff's Office in Markleeville during business hours M-F and on weekends and evenings, Douglas County dispatches the units too.
