Calgary Airport Authority TETRA

Hi all,

I did a browse of the Spectrum Manglement System recently and found some 800 MHz airport authority freqs at both YYC and YBW. They are not part of CMRN, and have a 20K0GXW (IIRC) emission. In one of the media shots of the new terminal, I believe I saw some airport staff carrying Hytera radios. Since I have had these frequencies in my scanners for a while and picked up no analog or DMR signals, and 20K0GXW is identified as a TETRA emission class in various places around the web, I am somewhat confident in suggesting these are TETRA frequencies. (Can you have TETRA simplex and/or conventional repeater, or must it all be trunked?)

Here's the info I gleaned from ISED Spectrum Manglement:

"Duplex" (repeater) frequencies:

856.2625

Simplex frequency:
861.2625

Can you have TETRA simplex and/or conventional repeater, or must it all be trunked?

Yes I believe TETRA can do simplex. As for non-trunked, I'm not sure, but there is a repeater type mode they do operate on when a network is not available.

AOR DV 1 now does DMO Tetra

Anyone with upgraded firmware in an AOR DV 1 may want to try these frequencies.

I believe DMO should do the simplex frequencies they call direct or mobile to mobile.
