I figured out a handful of talkgroups today. The ones on various LTR systems I can only get vague with, i.e. "construction", "delivery", etc., because it's rare that anyone bothers to name their company on the radio (and their radio procedure is poor at best, with all due respect to the users ;) ).

On 753f, I am focusing on SGPS - Solicitor General Public Security - aka the provincial sheriffs. I managed to snatch up one of the channels - 52160 pretty much has to be Traffic North, as it's carrying radio traffic from members working in Balzac, Airdrie, and points thereabouts.

I'm gonna continue directing my attention to SGPS for a while. Maybe I can figure out all the talkgroups for the 52xxx series. Here's to hoping :)

If you guys have any TGIDs figured out, for any system, please send 'em in!

Anyone getting some odd stuff on 753f on site 1?

For at least a week, radio 27008 has been reported as being transmitting on tg 801688 (Uniden ID 27008, interestingly enough) - on 800 trunk frequency #4, which equates to 851.1125. Obviously none of this is the case. There is no 851.1125, no trunk frequency #4 (lowest in the system is 601), no tgid 27008, and the radio 27008 does not actually exist. I know all of the above for a fact, and I can confirm that the actual system does not show this radio/tg/frequency combination as being active. However, both my 396 (idle, parked on the CC in hold mode) and Unitrunker (using a tapped 245) show this activity on site 1. No other site reports this signal/situation. Deleting the tgid/rid/channel from Unitrunker just erases it until the next time said continuation message comes up on the control channel again.

Anyone else notice this oddity?

I've noticed this type of behaviour before on the City of Regina ASTRO system. It's only a single site system, but still every once in a while it will send out garbage on the control channel. Sometimes what happens is that the trunked controller will send out only half of an Outbound Signalling Word (OSW), interrupting the first OSW to send another OSW. The decoding software may put the two unrelated OSW's together and interpret them as a totally fictitioius OSW.

Now, this may not be exactly what's happening on 753F. It sounds like the controller is sending out an OSW that the software is interpreting as a call grant. Very likely it's just garbage from the controller. I've been told once that "you'd be surprised what garbage the controller sends out sometimes."

I'm not that familar with Unitrunker, so it might also be possible that Unitrunker is misinterpreting a legitimate OSW that 753F is sending out. You may want to send a log of the annoying OSW to the software developer and let him look at it.

Basically, I would chalk this up to a glitch or system error, and yes you may have to keep going into Unitrunker to delete the fictitious radio, channel, and TG if it turns out the Unitrunker software is working properly.

Yeah, Rick is looking at the UT logs. At the same time, though, my 396, parked on the control channel, shows "27008" as an active TG. So unless the routines used in the 396 are same/similar to the stuff UT uses, I'm thinking it's not a UT bug.

It's a pity I wasn't working/watching the system with UT when this first appeared. 27008 (as in 727008) is a valid radio ID for EMS in this system. I could accept that someone tried to get a grant using that radio and the system screwed up, getting into some kind of loop. I do have access to Zonewatch, and don't see the grant/continuation in current logs.. even though the activity is still present for hobbyists monitoring the system.

If you have any logs of Unitrunker doing this, I'd very much like to see them. The situation here involves a single OSW.

Basically, I would chalk this up to a glitch or system error, and yes you may have to keep going into Unitrunker to delete the fictitious radio, channel, and TG if it turns out the Unitrunker software is working properly.
Or he can leave the data in placel to monitor the "hit" counts and "last seen" timestamps to have an idea of how active and recent this new behavior is on the control channel.

Jay, I have also noticed this since Feb 7th. I thought the radio techs were doing something new, and have been ignoring it. The funny thing is the hit count is only 7 on the radio, but on the group it is well over 100.

Wish I saw this post last night, as I just purged my logs for the month. Though it does easily re-produce like you mentioned if you reset the site, it does come back immediately.
