AEMA did notify us that the debris was going to land "from 0 to 110 km east of Calgary" and "in the next 3 minutes". There wasn't much time to do anything but notify the agencies 'downrange' if you will, i.e. Wheatland and Newell counties. We learned somewhere between 30 to 90 minutes later that it had ended up in the Atlantic.

I don't know if there's any pre-plans in place with AEMA, Calgary EMO, etc., to deal with such a situation, but if something had happened, my gut feeling would have been to treat it as an AC3 - a confirmed aircraft crash, because that's what it would most closely resemble.
