Calgary or Edmonton Fire Feed

Does anyone know of an online feed/scanner w/Calgary or Edmonton FD ? I saw a CFD on shoutcast last year, but it vanished. Thanks

Someone in Calgary was doing one a few ages ago, but someone brought it to the attention of the city's public information office (I think) and they gently suggested to get rid of it.

It was me that did it a few years ago under MedicDispatch.com, it was never suggested that I get rid of it, I did it cause one of the EMS Superintendants took a lot of heat for defending me and I shut it down out of consideration for him and the department.

It is online, but it's a private feed for me to listen to while working on my laptop or when I am in the office.

No problem, I did hear of another guy who is around here a bit had one up and going with WMA and he took it to City Hall asking for permission.

With out a doubt you probably know what the answer was.

I really think it's unfortunate that the City would not encourage this to happen if we kept the transmissions held back to Alpha 1, South & North Fire Dispatch and TAC channels.

Look at all the scanners sitting online at Shoutcast and most are endorsed by the departments they are broadcasting and most departments acknowledge the benefit they have offered. ScanGwinnett.com is just one example of a department endorsed site and feed, but there are literally hundreds of others.

Nothing else - no tac channels, no side chatter channels, etc. Obviously, the radio techs at the city agencies know which radios are with which agencies and have the ability to "brick" a misbehaving media outlet's radio real fast..

I think the best way to aim for success in plans to get a live feed going is to approximate the same system as is offered to media outlets, and be cooperative with the agencies (promising to keep it set up as designed, not adding channels like TAC AT-SCENE, etc).

I had it setup from Okotoks, but was unable to keep the Control Channel locked. I had made a couple of posts here and Jay did attempt to help me to the best of what we could get, but for some reason, the Control Channel kept disapearing.

I would have no intention of broadcasting the TAC or Side channels, and definatley no Police comms.

I just don't want to go "there again" and be the thorn in everybody's side at Headquarters again. The amazing part was, I had a lot of support from local firefighters, EMS and a lot of thier families.

It definatley was a disapointment to shut it down as I really believed it was a good service for everyone and no one was out to harm the departments or any reputations.

If the departments gave me thier blessing, I would definatley have it set up for Public broadcast immediatley and at no cost to any department, so it's a win-win for everyone.

Who knows, maybe one day City Hall will realize the value of a service like that, no cost to them, a great public service, time delayed to prevent ambulance chasers or thrill seekers and run by a person who has the utmost respect for all departments.

I know the local ambulance/ems union here in Edmonton streams EMS and FIRE talkgroups, but it is not on a public site. They do it for their members to listen in on days off and the like.
