I have an operation I am hearing on 155.670 that I can hear way up here in Brasstown, NC. I believe this may be the SO dispatch for Calhoun County out of Anniston. Official records indicate it is a simplex. I'm hearing the cars just fine but no dispatcher which tells me it may be a mobile repeater system.

Units numbers look something like this: 1 Charles 27, 1 Edward 33/ 35/45, Hall 19, 1 Paul 16/18/30/33/37/39/48, Sam 20, 1-711, 905 etc.

The PL tone is 179.9 Hz.

This is one of my longer standing mysteries. Anyone down around Anniston that monitors the Calhoun SO freqs that can give me some insight on this?

If this isn't Calhoun Co does anyone else have an idea were in Alabama this is coming from?

Thanks and 73 all,

Not Calhoun County GA

Larry,

One "Calhoun County" it is NOT is Calhoun County in southwestern GA.

Even if they were using it as a talkaround, most of Georgia sheriffs and deputies use 6xx-A, B, C, D, etc. (601-A sheriff of a particular county), and no where in my listening area use that many call designators. Except Tallahassee FL that used to use beat#-shift-ID 4A39 for example.

One possiblity to eliminate,

Thanks Jay. Based on time zone, locations mentioned such as schools and churches (using Goggle to cross), plates run etc. I have determined we are dealing with Calhoun County GA. But what I am hearing and what is licensed is not making sense. I'm hearing the field units but no dispatcher. Maybe this is a mobile repeater/extender for their 460 UHF repeater system.

Thanks for the reply Jay

155.670 pl179.9 is calhoun county sheriff on vhf. the repeater is located ontop of a high mtn top. about 2 months ago they had repeater trouble and used simplex. So I guess it would be possible to hear them on simplex during band openings or something.
