Testing on the blue channel as in that's the name of the talk group you were monitoring (and if so what was the TGID) or more like they were on CRIS AND the (low band) blue?

I would not be surprised to see interconnections between CRIS and existing channels like the low band blue so it's possible the talk group you were hearing will be the talk group for that connection.

They were experimenting with patching legacy channels into CRIS at one point. They had to ask permission from dispatch incase it would disrupt normal operations.

I was listening to this on TGID 862, but I'm not sure I would consider that a permanent assignment at this point.

Hello all,

As a reminder, kindly submit findings to the Db.

It was just noted that both sites 24 and 28 were discovered in mid-November and posted here in the forums but without subsequent Db submissions.

As Db Admins we do not follow all threads, so to ensure information is passed on and Db updated in a timely manner, a submission is very helpful.

Thank you

I'm getting Site 29 weak here in Ventura. I'm pretty sure I heard it in Diamond Bar as well, where it was stronger. It's identifying as being on 769.40625, secondary controls 770.65625, 773.30625, 773.59375, BSI 774.34375; but I'm hearing it on 769.96875. Both DSD+FL and Unitrunker report this. NAC $9D9 and no neighbors.

Same for me in Burbank. What's odd is I entered 769.96875 and the freq in unitrunker auto changes to 769.40625 with Site 29, but if I enter 769.40625 it shows Site 27 with all the same freqs.

Sounds like unitrunker is taking its cues from the CC stream... which will usually work when the site is programmed correctly 8*)

Don't know if this helps or not, but I finally had a chance to go through a pile of recordings I had from Site 27 - In addition to 'Testing on Oat', there were also transmissions with 'Testing on Frazier' and 'Testing on Lukens'... so much for absolute confidence in 27's location.

If 27 is Oat and 28 is Frazier (both seem likely), 29 could be Lukens... What's the signal like in Burbank?

I got both with full bars. Couldn't distinguish one over the other.

From near LAX cannot receive 27, but 29 is solid, so yes I would say its Lukens or something further South in LA basin as the location.

I am also seeing the CC anomaly when 769.96875 is entered, Pro96 software reads it as 769.40625.

Thanks for info on 30.

From my location, 30 is definitely weaker - signal strength 60-70% compared to 95+ for 29.

So I would venture to guess its located South or East - maybe Santiago which sees other State of California uses like for the CalTrans system.

I'm not sure how accurate this information is but I have been told that they may be testing VHF and/or UHF sites at some locations, particular in the inland areas.

May be worth doing a VHF and UHF band search from time to time to see what you get.

I do believe they would need to put in a license modification or get a new license to do this being that I don't think the state has any VHF/UHF P25 trunking licenses currently.

looks like site 6 (round mtn in Kern county) might have had its frequencies changed the control channel I had for it has gone quite

Did some driving to localize a CHP 700 MHz signal, I'll post later about that in a separate thread when I verify some info about that. While I was out and about, I did some scanning on 700 MHz. I'm 99% sure Site 24 is on Rincon, the signal only held steady while I could see the towers on the site and the BR330T held 5 bars while the towers were visible. I didn't thoroughly verify this; Ojai coverage would rule out Santa Barbara sites. I might hit that area next week to confirm.

Recorded some unencrypted voice a few days ago on Site 30 here in south Orange County. Talkgroup ID 147, radio ID 307.

It was a radio tech saying “Radio Service Test 12345,54321”.

Makes me think Site 30 could be Santiago Peak based on my location and signal strength.

Regarding Site 8, I'm just barely able to get a signal enough to decode from Elk Grove, using an outdoor antenna. I'm going to guess this *might* be Bald Mountain, Yolo County.

Also, I'm now receiving relatively full bars on Site 21 on the outdoor antenna and can pick up the signal enough to decode using my SDS100 with an 800 MHz portable antenna. I'm going to *guess* this is Mt. Diablo.

The CRIS website has been updated with new site maps and various end-user bulletins (applications, handbooks, etc.)

Site 21 (showing no neighbors):
NAC: 9D1
773.08125 CC
773.55625 scc
773.78125 scc
774.33125 scc

773.08125 is not on Diablo (unless I'm doing something stupid). I can hear it, but it's not strong enough to be local - 10dB weaker than site 2 - in Brentwood. It's about the same strength as what we're calling Mt Vaca (site 15) for me.

Got it! I just noticed that there are some sites in the foothills in the new maps on the CRIS site, such as Placer and Nevada counties. *Maybe* it's one of those....

I'll have to do some driving around on my next free day and find its location.
