My Police Department just went digital recently and I've been having a little bit of trouble listening with my 396. I've found out there is a modulation issue and that is why the problem is occuring. One thing I have noticed is the scanner gets fairly better reception in the nightime hours 12:00 AM until daylight. Could there be a reason for this or am I just crazy? It sounds very "choppy" (sorry, couldn't think of a better word) during the day. I don't get it. Could it be the system possibly getting worked on during the day? I'm not sure if the last question even makes any sense. I'm very confused. Anyone have any ideas?

Be more specific about where your 'police department' is - or even better, check in with the folks in your state's forum. There may be other 396 users in your area with the solution.
