• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello All,

Does anyone have any experience into RCS Call24 Callboxes? We had purchased from a college that had moved and in hopes to use them in our parks. The technology is a bit antiquated but it is close to our repeaters so we should be ok... Upon opening the boxes, the technology is pretty simple: Battery/Solar powered, w charger. Then a Kenwood TK series UHF. We were able to log into the radio (see picture below). We replaced the battery and used the frequency, and heard the DTMF codes then a prescripted message, stating that it needs assistance. When we call back from a different radio, the radio, picks up the signal but does not trigger the board to signal thru their speaker (when unplugging the cable the radio can communicate back to ours back and fourth with no problem. We are desperately trying to get the manual for on of these, with no avail. I tried pulling a jumper, that said HSC option, which in turn shut down the DTMF. The programming port isnt anything like I am used to. Please see the pictures below.
As many of these systems are being phased out due to cell phones, wifi, cctv. We are a small town and this could help us.
ANY HELP or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I don't have any experience with these, but it would seem that the controller in the box is probably expecting some sort of signalling (e.g. DTMF) before it opens the audio circuit. Otherwise, any transmission on the frequency used would go to all the boxes which is less than desirable in most applications.

I'd agree with wardaddy, I suspect you will need to make some changes to the controller. Give them a call and see what they can do to assist. The blue plug in module on the right side of the board looks to be the addressing method. Likley it's using some sort of signaling to open the speaker so each individual unit can be addressed.
