Sitting In My Office On 09 Jan 08 At 17:30 Hours, I Was Scanning The Bands And I Copied A Bit Of Traffic And Was Interested If Anyone Could Identify This Call Sign.
It Was On 460.125 (statewide-uhf) At Mile Post 300 Callsign Given Was: B928 Any Ideas...

Well looking at it, it is far from being an assigned broadcast ID from the FCC, more than likely, it is a unit identifier, like "Baker 928" or something. One thing is certain, it is not a license ID.

Ah, my misunderstanding. I thought he was saying that he copied a repeater or base station CW ID ending with ---B928.

Nevermind....

He might have meant that, I didn't quite understand it myself.

Typically that would be "Bravo 928" In most cases Bravo units are the swing shift. Not much clue as to which agency though

Back in the day when I wore a UHP badge, Bravo units were common on statewide frequencies. Bravo units are/were FBI on the state frequencies which was particularly common in "outlying areas." Other Bravo units would be prefaced by their state agency call sign such as 1F (Weber County) and then their local call sign (Bxxxx).

Asking this question is a little ludicrous because with the sparse information given identification is impossible.
  • Who was at MP 300? (The OP or B928?)
  • MP 300 on what highway?
  • What was the context of the radio transmission?
  • Was this a traffic stop?
Nope. Just too many unknowns. Not near the information needed to even make a SWAG.

missing pieces

I did not get more that what I reported... I thought with just bits and pieces that maybe someone else copied this splash of traffic and could fill in the blanks, I'll have to listen closer next time, sorry guys.
