On May 27th, 2011 at 1745 hours the Sadsburyville Fire Company was dispatched as part of a 1st Alarm Assignment to the 200 block of Ash Road in West Caln for a House Fire. Other units on the initial dispatch were the Wagontown and Martins Corner Fire Companies, Parkesburg Fire Company for the Ladder Truck and Honey Brook Fire Company for the Pumper Tanker.

Chief Grossman responded at 1746 hours followed by Wagontown Chief Zeigler and was advised of the "house in flames" coming from the 911 caller.

Engine 31-1 responded at 1748 hours with 5 personnel and Engine 31-2 at 1750 hours with 3 personnel.

Chief Grossman arrived on location at 1750 hours and reported a 2 story single family dwelling with smoke showing. Wagontown Chief Zeigler arrived at 1751 hours and requested a working fire dispatch which brought additional resources to the scene. Chief Zeigler established Ash Road Command out of Command 31 located in the front of the structure. Chief Grossman assumed the operations role.

After further investigation, Chief Grossman determined the fire appeared to all be in the attic towards the "C" side of the structure.

Engine 31-1 went on scene at 1752 hours and led off with the 150' front bumper line into the front door to suppress the fire. Engine 35 arrived at the same time and drop a supply line from Ash Road into the scene to supply Engine 31-1 with water. Engine 35's crew deployed a 2nd line of 200' from Engine 31-1 and extended into the structure as a back up line. Wagontown Assistant Chief Brown assumed interior operations.

Engine 31-2 took the end of the driveway at 1806 hours and prepared to supply the scene with additional water. Their crews initially ascended to the roof for vertical ventilation.

Engine 34-5's crews arrived and assisted with ventilation of the dwelling and hooking ceilings on the second floor to completely access the fire for suppressing.

Engine 44-5's crews assisted with opening of the roof and deploying salvage covers to preserve some of the furniture on the second floor below where the fire was. Westwood Deputy 44 was in charge of accountability and manpower.

The Chester County Fire Marshall's Office was called into investigate.

Various other fire companies were on scene with water tenders and crews assisting with salvage and overhaul.

Ash Road Command placed the fire under control at 1813 hours.

Pomeroy and Honey Brook Fire Companies help pack the supply line back onto Engine 35.

This was the first working house fire that Engine 31-1 has ran a line on since being in service.

Sadsburyville and all other units cleared the scene at 1925 hours. Units: Engine 31-1, Engine 31-2, Command 31
