By Thorndale Fire Company October 7, 2010 On Thursday, October 7th, 2010 the Thorndale Fire Company was dispatched at 1341 to the Westbound lanes of the Route 30 Bypass East of Route 340 for a reported car fire.
Engine 38 responded at 1345 with a crew of four.
The Chester County 911 Center advised Sergeant Stackhouse that several calls were received reporting the vehicle "fully involved."
Engine 38 was able to enter the bypass from the Route 340 interchange and respond Eastbound in the Westbound lanes of the bypass to access the scene once the roadway was closed off by responders.
Engine 38 arrived on the scene at 1349 confirming the report. Crews quickly deployed the front bumper hose to begin suppression efforts.
Traffic 38 responded at 1349 and was directed to the Route 30 Bypass overpass to Route 322 to assist with traffic control. Additional Fire Police personnel closed off the onramp to the Route 30 Bypass Westbound at Route 322.
The fire was quickly brought under control at 1353.
Crews remained on scene for several minutes cleaning up equipment until the roadway was partially reopened. Traffic 38 remained on the scene until a tow truck arrived to remove the vehicle.
