I was just trying to see if anybody knew if possibly there was any issues going on with 453.300MHZ in Cambria County.

I ask because recently, I heard Cambria being notified of hums/clicks on South PD (453.375) and Metro (453.650) having complaints of City Fire (453.775) bleeding over.

For about a week now, no matter what I do to my dipole antenna or even if I change antennas altogether and even try some amps, it seems CentralNorth keeps coming in with low signal that it seems it took my most powerful CATV amp of like 25dB or so boost to bring it in mostly ok.

453.300MHZ is on 3 towers with the closest being 10 miles from me. The one tower (Colver) is 0.3 miles down the road from another frequency I listen to that doesn't breakup hardly ever.

453.300 seems to be coming in normally in Ebensburg. Just heard a few transmissions.

Thanks for the info.

Just seems like that is the only Dispatch channel for the county that is coming in bad in the West End area of JTown.

So far Metro, South, EMS, & Fire all sound excellent.

Now that's interesting.

For the heck of it, I hooked my BR330T up to my GE Pro Attic/Outdoor 29884 TV Antenna via 2-splitter with no amp.

CentralNorth looks very decent now even though Antenna is inside my second story room near the scanners.

I guess the antenna can serve me two purposes now. :)

Well it did work that great after hours with the TV antenna, so I went back to normal antennas.

I switched back to the Off Center Fed Dipole from the Wiki and it seems it may have fixed my issue.

I say maybe because I've seen a new antenna setup work for hours or even days then start giving bad reception again.

Ok, I finally got some results and hopefully somebody can explain this one to me because I am not sure why this is.

I like to listen to 453.300 as mentioned in this thread but also 453.475MHZ. They are both roughly the same distance from me.

453.300 and virtually every other channel in my area in the 453-460 range works perfectly with the Off Center Fed Dipole in the Wiki with a 48" Wire and an 18" wire.

Yet oddly, 453.475 only seems to want to receieve well if I make an antenna with two 18" legs.

I noticed 453.300 will receieve great with 48" & 18" while 453.475 sounds bad and vice-versa where .300 sounds horrible with 2 18" but 475 sounds excellent that way.
