o.k. i know this got discussed once before.i don't think there was a definitive answer.last night camden county fire dispatch 154.430 pl 192.8 was booming in.i again noticed that when i entered the pl tone i would not pick up the 2 tone sequential paging tone's but just the dispatch announcement.so i put my bc785t into tone search.none of the tone-out portion of the message's were long enough to decode any tone.does anyone know,do they drop the pl when they do the tone-out portion of the message ?. i remember hearing that some comm's center's do this to increase the accuracy of the paging device "tripping".

Yeah. The PL comes on when the dispatcher talks. There's no PL during the tone-out, which lessens the chance of the pagers failing to go off.

Northwest NJ
Burlington & Camden counties both do that - it's great to be able to sit on their dispatch channels without getting blasted by the tone-outs.

Now, Gloucester County, on the other hand... :(
