Campbell Hall FD in Orange County had apparatus out this evening doing radio checks on mobiles and portables all over their district on the Maybrook FD UHF repeater. Sure seemed like they were testing the coverage of the repeater in their area. Anyone know of any plans for them to put up their own repeater?

If they got good results on Maybrook's repeater, then why should they spend money on putting up another one?

Because it's Orange County, and everyone needs to be on their own frequency or little slice of spectrum. That's how it works down here, take a look at the Orange County page in the database and you'll see for yourself.

Campbell Hall used to use Montgomery's UHF link to low band channel 2. When Montgomery shut that off they lost "their" repeater. They still use Montgomery's link to Orange 911. The testing makes sense as I would think that Maybrook's repeater (which I believe is on top of the water tower on Prospect) is a better shot into Campbell Hall compared to Montgomery's up in Winding Hills. That Winding Hills site does get out though.
