Can a Pro 97 Still be effective today in Utah County? Even if its just for Hearing Fire? I sold my Pro96 (low on money) but would at least like to get back into some action. Any help would be awesome.

I am not familiar with your scanner, but according to the information on the RR Wiki page the Pro-97 can not be upgraded for trunking use for after rebanding which has occurred in Utah County. We have found out, though, that any older scanner will still be able to trunk-track to some extent. There are several frequencies that it cannot hear while in trunking mode, however, all of the frequencies of a trunking site can be entered as conventional frequencies and scanned as conventional frequencies. You will lose the ability to know who is talking (which talk group), and any following of the conversations you may experience will simply be coincidental. Of course, it has not lost its ability to be used to scan all conventional frequencies. (There is a little more information here.)

The Pro-97 can be tapped to provide an input for programs such as UniTrunker which we use to find new frequencies and/or TGs.
