If you set it to secure, and to ID on PTT only and never press PTT, and set to scan, then most likely your ok. I was just stating the info for any others that might not be on the same type of system you are on and stating the obvious warnings. All systems are different as to how they are set up as to the TG protocols. Some systems will not care about an odd ID way up high as it could be assumed these are for training, or testing your HT, or a area ignored as users are only human and make mistakes. But there are a lot that will see any ID not preprogrammed by the administrators of the system, as unathorized, and alert the system controlers to this, resulting in a kill command, or an investigation. Believe me in these post 9/11/01 days ,.. you DO NOT want to be investigated for unathorized usage on a public safety system. Not only will you be in hot water, but then they have a valid issue with security to thier system and will find a way to make it secure, be it encryption, going to a P-25 format which you can't use a HT not on the system to monitor, or other means. So just be careful.
