Can anyone help me with understanding a BCT15X? I have used the ARC XT software with a RadioReference subsriotion to program San Bernardino and Riverside County trunked systems into the scanner. My problem now is I have no idea how to only scan certain channels, I get weird data tones from frequencies I didnt even program in, etc, etc, etc. The manual is so complicated i dont know where to start....

This article from our wiki will help...(anything that's blue is a link)

Program your DMA Scanner - The RadioReference Wiki

You should discard the Uniden supplied manual and download the Easier to Read one as mentioned here. The article above will also help with links for terminology, trunking, PC connections and much more

Start from the beginning. These radios are not hard to program and use. Just take your time to get to know what the scanner has to offer. READ THE MANUAL slowly and have your scanner next to you when you do it. This way you cna put your hands to work on it step by step as provided in the manual. Now you will have the knowledge it takes to operate your new scanner properly. Don't rely on software to do the work for you. It is nice to have it done in a matter of minutes using software, but the real joy of listening comes from KNOWING your radio and being able to understand how to use it properly. If you still have problems, pack it in the original box, PM me so I can provide you with my address and I will certainly put it to good use in my shack. Stop wasting your money and time on programs and subscriptions if your not going to take the time to LEARN what your scanner has to offer by manually programming and exploring it first. How do you expect to fix a mistake later on if you cannot program it manually in the first place? And, yes, computer programs are not perfect, so don't rely on them to get it right the first time everytime.
