Can someone help me frequencies, Lafayette

Ok I have a Uniden bearcat sportcat twin turbo and for some reason I have all the frequencies I could find programed into it and I only pick up about two of those frequencies. Maybe I did not get the right frequencies, can someone post a list of LAFAYETTE, WEST LAFAYETTE, TIPPECANOE COUNTY, AND PURDUE UNIVERSITY police department frequencies if you have them. Well, to monitor those agencies you need a trunking scanner, and as I understand it, you may soon need a DIGITAL trunking scanner. All of those agencies are part of the Tippecanoe County TRS. That being said, all of the frequencies you need are in this database under Tippecanoe Co. I am not sure if the model you mentioned is a trunker, I have a feeling its not, and that would complicate listening, but it is certainly not impossible. To get an idea of the traffic you should be hearing, try listening to the live audio feed from Tippecanoe County, also availible in the RR database.

What is a decent trunking scanner and how much are they and were do I get one at

I'd go to your local Radio Shack down at the Tippacanoe Mall and get a Pro 96 I think they are on sale for like 450... I have one and I have picked up TIPPIE TRS when I drove through... This scanner is also digital, and will be around after rebannding unlike other cheaper scanners.... Also if and when Tippie goes to digital you won't have to shell out more money for a new scanner.... Another plus to the Pro 96 you will be able to pick up the ISP post there in Lafayette...

Purdue & Red Cross are on the 800 system only. Most fire ops are there too, but I think they still dispatch on VHF too.

All the Tippecanoe Co. action is on the three 800 Mhz Trunking sites. Site 1 has Tippecanoe Co. Sheriffs Department, Co. Schools and all the Co. Fire Depts, Lafayette Police and Fire, West Lafayette Police and Fire, Purdue Police and Fire, Street Departments, Special Events, etc. Site 2 has the City Schools. The ISP Dist-14 SAFE-T site is the third one. All the Site 1 and 2 on the county system have a back up on the SAFE-T site in Analog. The Indiana State Police are all Digital along with the Dept of Natural Resources. This will get you about 99% of what you can hear. The VHF fire freqs are used mostly for call outs, and are all translated or patched to the the 800 Mhz talkgroups. The RR Data base is right on with what is being used. Purdue still uses their UHF and VHF Frequencies for the activities identified in the database.
