can someone please tell me what i did wrong

The saga of me and my pro 96 continues,


here is what i did


first i turned the unit on, next i cleared the working memory by pressing 01 enter. pressed pgm, func, selected bank 1,pressed trunk, selected motorolla, pressed pgm. great just like the manual said, great things those manuals once you actually take some time to read them, and i thank all of you who made the suggestion to take some time to read it.

now i programed 141.4200 miss. site, next i pressed pgm, trunk, func, 4 i selected table mode and carried on, then i pressed pgm, trunk, func, 2 then i set the base freq at 141.150, the offset at 380, and the step at 15.0 KHz it seemed like it took a moment to start working properly but then it worked just fine, getting several digital tgs on this tower. it seems that the problem i was having some time ago was that i was trying to set the step using the numeric keys instead of th up/down arrows. so at that point everything is groovy. the only thing at this point that still confusses me is that it shows 9600 baud and i was under the impression that beel fleet net is 3600 but i could be wrong THAT is my first question. next i repeated the samesteps that i have outlined in paragraph 1 except i selected bank 2 i programed in 142.380. which i found as an active cc, i set the table, base, offset, and step correctly however i have no sound on this bank. i should say audio rather. it scans this bank fine, tgs show up a-ok it shows me the voice channels however no sound, what is this all about.


i am having a lot of success with building v files and i have a great file for the following provinces SK, AB, MB which i would like to make available to anyone who is interested. can someone send my a file for zone 1&2 ontario fleet net i have a interface cable but i dont know if i can use it in this maner, any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The base frequency you listed iss 141.150. It should be 141.015. Maybe it's just a typo, maybe not. Just pointing this out.

Hey Dave,

Well it wasnt a typo so i changed the base on bank 2 but still no audio, i wonder if anyone else has ever encountered the same problem. Thanks for pointing it out to me,

Hi, if you're seeing voice channels and getting no audio it means you have to follow instructions on pg36 under " 800 MHz splinter systems" , follow steps 1-5, step 4 make sure you choose 3600 and on step 5 choose "table" - this should solve your problems - this problem you had has puzzled many before you. Chuck.

Just an add on peteman, many did'nt know to use tables as instruction manual on pg 36 was for "800 Mhz"... applies to VHF Fleetnet as well.
This should get you going.

Well that did work thank you. but what i dont understand is why if you can set it with func. 6 or 4. you should be able to disssable either the 9600, 0r the 3600. i think i am going to get the software and program this thing properly. then store it in a v file. this is the best scanner i have ever owned my first was a 4 channel unit that you had to put crystals in so RS has come a long way since then. this is the only area that i am having problems with. now i have to search the forums for the link for that software.

The bottom line is: Pressing buttons. Thats the problem. Get the software. Then you can see everything in each bank as to how it needs to be programmed. I've got 5 scanners that I done have to push buttons. Boy is it nice. Good Luck with the PRESS, PRESS etc. HaHa Larry

I will be sending a money order on monday for the win96 software but in the meantime. some one please tell me, when i program a freq for bell fleetnet into bank 1 for example and set the other parimiters am i setting the base step and offset for the entire bank or just for the cc that i programed

I had three of my banks good to go for bell fleet net, i can get two cc s from here so my thinking was that the banks were set up properly. banks 1 2 and 3 that is, so i figured that if i changed areas all i had to do was put in another cc and it should work. well as i am sure E1 knows it didnt.
then i kept playing with the mode button and everything is groovy now. I am not as up on scanning especially the trunked systems as some others on this site but i can honestly say that this is the best scanner i have ever owned. And i never thought i would say that about radio shack.
