Don't buy this base as it is not a quality radio. You get intermod/RF..poor volume and squelch pots. Go with a Uniden BC-355N(If you don't need trunking or P-25) which replaces the BC-355C but with narrow banding. I don't want to band-mouth GRE since they folded up but this basic scanner is garbage. If you need more info on this..please message me as all the ones I sold to firefighters got retuned and then GRE folds up last week on 10/17/12. I only wish them the best as I knew some people in the CA office that lost their jobs. They were very good to me and always updated my catalogue.
