• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Can we get a Motorola Professionals Forum?

So just a thought here. I've been a member here since 2003 and it's a great site but honestly, reading through the Motorola forum is a nightmare. Literally over 60-70% of the threads are about using Motorola gear as a scanner. For us who administer and program radios on actual public safety and other LMR systems, could we get a sub forum for that or something? Maybe a confirmed administrators page? Just a thought...

Thank you for that but unfortunately 90% of those threads are locked for whatever reason. I have no idea why yall do that.

They're locked because the thread has since "expired" once the topic has been solved, or run its course, moderators lock the thread so someone doesn't comment on a thread from 2003.

Old Threads are locked after 6 months. It's a manually initiated batch process.

Yup. No hand holding there. You are expected to think for your self.
No kidding.... I was asking legitimate deep technical questions and when I challenged some of the responses for more information/backup to their statements I got slammed. The site owner/moderator knows his crap, but has no clue how a system of 5k, 10k, or even 20,000 radios is managed and dealt with.

Well I will say one thing about the communication.support forum..... don't bother to answer any questions over there.
I joined,,, have been in the field for over 10 years now. So I answered a couple questions. The clowns BANNED me for over posting claimed I was trying to increase my post count. No,,, I was trying to answer questions that people had. SO as far as I am concerned,,, they can all go pound sand.
Maybe they will all ban each other during a power struggle and no one will be there. would be fine by me

There are some quirky folks at Communication.Support that you have to deal with, but they know their stuff for the most part.
