I have one freq that is ultra strong and the rest are nicely strong to weak. Can I set the gain for a given record in a scanlist or is there some other settable parameter to adjust this one freq without degrading the performance of all other freq's?

I havent seen any documentation addressing that other than editing the FMP24.cfg file for gain. I don't see it documented in anything involving single frequency independent RF gains. All the scanlist does is tell FMP24 frequencies to scan.

I was afraid of that... Anyone have thoughts on inexpensive commercial devices to limit the RF coming in down the coax as an alternative solution - something that would clip RF signal strength above a given specified level?

from antenna to SDR:

Antenna >> variable attenuator >>tunable bandpass filter >> SDR
only thing I can think of. Tunable bandpass filter to help try to reject unwanted images.

Have you tried the injection feature in FMP24? Active key is i.
It 'swaps' the local oscillator as an attempt to move interfering images away from the wanted signal. On FMP24 FFT display it looks like it 'flips' from left to right.

In my case, things are always VERY easy and perfectly completed very efficiently to those that have never volunteered to do them.
