Don't fall into the trap of saying 'well this document says that it's this station at that time'. There might have been a schedule change, or an entirely new station might have taken over on that frequency. Doing this is called 'list logging', and you'll get bit with it eventually.

Learn to listen to the station when you are trying to ID it. The larger SWBC stations usually ID on the hour or half hour, or immediately after a newscast. Don't assume anything about what you are hearing. There are standard phrases recognizable in many languages that should be a tip-off; i.e. 'Esta es' or 'Aqui' in Spanish, 'Hier Spricht' in German, for example.

Obviously it's a bit of a stretch to ID something from 3000 miles away but I'm willing to wager that 11780 station is not Spanish at all but Brazilian style Portuguese. R Nacional Amazonia is my guess, and if the freq is clear of XERTA R Educacion, the parallel would be 6185. This is yet another trick in trying to ID a station whose language is unfamiliar to you.

Being on the West Coast, joining up with the ASWLC Yahoo group will open your eyes to what is commonly heard there...remember, listen! 73 Mike

Gotta admit though that those spreadsheets sure come in handy! You at least get a heads up on who it might be, then you can listen for key words that would confirm it for 'ya.
