We're renting a pontoon boat for a few days hoping to sling some trout here. Very impressed that Canada makes it so easy to buy a non-resident fishing license. 8-day conservation fishing license for just over $30. Obtained online and downloadable to view (and show if asked) on our iPhones. I expected it to be a lot more! From what I have seen so far, Canada rocks! I could live up here, no problem.

Really enjoying Lake Nipigon area. We rented a lodge at North Superior Charters (highly recommended) and a pontoon boat from a local biz we found on Craigslist. Also rented ATVs and buzzed around the area taking pics. Caught a slew of lake trout, all of them in the 6-7-8 lb category, and 2 small Pike. Heading out again here in an hour for more! No black bear sightings, nor moose. (saw several large brown bears in AK last month and several moose) Several deer and a very cool porcupine at the lake's edge when we were fishing from the boat. This is our last stop before reentering the states so we are soaking it up. Fantastic adventure so far - we are loving us some Canada!

Thanks, much, CanWoodsman! It truly is a pleasure. Driving across Canada, the scenery is breath-taking. We have made a vow to return next year to Banff and Jasper national parks for more camping and sightseeing and fishing. Amazing!
