Hi srm9030

Thought I'd make this a seperate topic seeing it didnt relate to the other one

Not sure what you mean by "station channels" and "lookup channels".

I get "in the clear" comms one minute and then I get encrypted comms channels.

The comms ID: is 5 and the others eg: cars, portables are a longer number...

The frequencies I have programmed all have an input frequency and are located all around Canberra. My guess is they are RPT type channels.

G'day, sorry it took a while (I hate exams! :()

By "station channels" I meant the channels that the various patrols are normally on, and by "lookup channels" I meant the channels the cops use to do names index, vehicle checks etc. I should have been a bit clearer on that.

With regards to encryption, I think the radio operator's traffic is be in the clear so if a cop drops his radio and the battery falls off or something, causing it to lose the encryption keys, he can ask to have his radio rekeyed over the air to go secure again. I'm not sure about this, though.
