With Dayton Hamvention cancelled along with even a local small hamfest (LARC, Longmont Amateur Radio Club) cancelled (allegedly due to the rented building being shut down by local government due to COVID-19), seems that everything's grinding to a halt. Is everyone pretty much playing by ear, planning on a make-up, or just waiting until next year?

The next scheduled local hamfests supposedly are PPRA (Pikes Peak Radio Association) and DRC (Denver Radio Club)'s hamfests; neither are scheduled at ARRL.org yet. Both are summer events, but DRC's hamfest needs special attention as though I think this year is okay, next year their usual site is closing down due to budget problems if it's not resolved by then. With COVID-19, it's certain that DRC will have problems next year using that site as JeffCo is going to be even more in the red...

No one can answer these questions and anyone who says they can is only guessing. Unless or until we have an effective treatment or preferably a vaccine this disease will continue to disrupt our lives. By the way, the theory that COVID-19 will disappear in warmer weather is a sophistry. There are plenty of cases in the Southern Hemisphere where it is summer now.

Guessing is fine, curious about anyone having events planned and having it cancelled - whether they are going to just try again next year or try again later in the year.

(offtopic: The theory of COVID-19 disappearing in warmer weather is also just guessing :)
Since it's showing up in the south hemisphere, it implies COVID-19 is going to be endemic, but there's simply not enough data to go one way or the other. What would be interesting is knowing the spread rate in the equatorial countries, if their rate isn't going down, nobody's rate is going down.)

I have to agree with the theory that warmer weather will quell this virus. Florida has over 700 confirmed cases of the virus and it's been in the upper 70's-80 degrees there.
The virus is going strong down there.

Meanwhile, back to amateur radio events and potential cancellations, postponements, etc.
