make sure the baud rate and comm ports are the same on both the scanner and software. use device manager and see what it says.

Just did com seems to be working but it is not detecting the scanner. using USB port on the front

Go to the scanners settings, go to Baud Rate, set front port. Should be OK to use the highest setting if its Uniden's USB programming cable.

There is no setting for that just baud rate for the GPS
