Hello,

When I try to update my SDS200, SDS100., and BCD536HP, I receive the following error: Updating full database failed. Operation is cancelled. The operation has timed out. I have tried to perform the update on different desktop computers, disabled all virus software, and validated that I have the current version of Sentinel. I have tried it on Windows 10, and 11 with the same result. Tried the FTP website ftp.uniden.com but received error there too. Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dana

Who is your ISP? Just updated here and it downloaded without any errors.

HughesNet, Spectrum, T Mobile Home, and some others will cause that message. Sentinel uses FTP port 21 for updates, and some ISPs either block port 21, or have very high FTP latency times that cause that specific error. There are many posts in the forum about that, going back many years.

Something to try that others have used successfully as a workaround....... Set your smartphone as a hotspot, connect your computer to the hotspot instead of your home WiFi, and try the Sentinel update process again.

I've been trying all week to update sentinel database. Anyone know what's going on?

I have used Charter Spectrum for years and it worked just now.
It seems the same company in different areas have differing policies. For example, Spectrum in my area works (and yours too), but there was someone on Spectrum in another area of the country where FTP is blocked. I'll beat this dead horse again: Uniden needs to move to SSL/TLS and stop this FTP nonsense.

Updates are working fine here, who is your ISP?
Well it's working again. All I did was plug in a scanner and it worked. I don't remember having to plug in a scanner to update the database. The firmware sure but not the database. But now I know. Thanks for the response.

It didn't work for me, when I just tried it. But, That was because I got a message saying mine was up-to-date.

EDIT: I tried it again. This time it did the firmware update.

I have Spectrum in the Austin area and just tried to download both the database update and the new firmware for the SDS scanner. Neither worked. I might try changing over to the hotspot for my Verizon phone and see if it works.
