I have been trying to listen to
Canquest Communication mpt1327

 I have been listening to it with DSD+ and notice a change to the system. It's not mpt 1327 anymore but someone told me that it's now DT3, can anyone tell me what I can use to listen to this system now, I just have all the frequencies from all that sites in DSD+ and am scanning through them.
any way to set up a DT3 SYSTEM.

Also what is a dt3 system, is it another kind of mpt 1327 system

Hi Steve,

From the WIKI:

DMR Tier III

DMR Tier III covers trunking operation in frequency bands 66-960MHz. The Tier III standard specifies two slot TDMA in 12.5kHz channels. Tier III supports voice and short messaging handling similar to MPT 1327 with built-in 128 character status messaging and short messaging with up to 288 bits of data in a variety of formats. It also supports packet data service in a variety of formats, including support for IPv4 and IPv6.

I'm not sure what scanners you have. Are any of them DMR capable?

My 536 should support this type of system, I may give it a go and see if I can track it.

Thank for the info, I did not think of checking the Wiki, yes I have an old radio shack pro 2045 with a tap that I use DSD+ ON, this is a small sample of what's coming up on DSD+ also have a 396t scanner

I think there was another thread in relation to the users on the system a while back...

I can't remember if the system is DMR Tier lll conventional or in fact capacity max trunking.

What I can tell you is that I can get 1-2 bars from the control channel/rest channel on my scanners out from Mississauga. So far the only activity I've seen on the system appears to be the Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls.

I would be surprised if customs/CBSA is using that system. Last time I checked aren't they P25 VHF? or is there another border crossing in Thorold?

Hey Steve, What site/frequency is this you hearing from? I can get the Grimsby and Caledonia sites but yet to hear any traffic on them.. The last time I was down in the Falls I did notice that some of Canquest sites where still using MPT1327..

Thorold in tucked in-between the Falls to the east, St Kitts to the north, West Lincoln.. I think to the west and Welland I believe to the South. the only border crossings are in NOTL, The Falls and Ft Erie..

Just as a point of reference.. if you are on the 406 South.. and get off the Highway 58 exit.. before you hit the tunnel under the Welland Canal that is part of Thorold.

"secure AES 256 encryption"

Well, that automatically rules Motorola out of the game. They seem to think us North Americans aren't worthy of AES on DMR.

Maybe you guys can figure this out for the Grimsby site.. I have been monitoring with site with DSD+ for the past week,, and noticed a new channel popped up. So it's showing channel numbers 1907/1908 as a CC which would make that the 420.9000 frequency.. but the other one that shows up is channel numbers is 1821/1822. The other frequencies licensed for the Grimsby site is 420.1250 & 420.3625 so it's probably one of those two.
