Just got a BCD536HP from a fellow ham. The scanner works fine but I can't get sentinel to work. I tried installing the version on the SD card and the version downloaded from your site. I always get an error that talks about a file mismatch. It also says that it can't find the database on the C: drive. The database seems OK on the SD card because it uses it in scanning. The SD card is seen as my G: drive. I really need Sentinel to work because it's a big hassle to use only the radio for that. I also can't do a firmware upgrade or upgrade the database. Please help me. I can follow a procedure because I used to work in IT. Thank you.

Solution
I am using the green Icon version of sentinel. I get these error messages: Reconstruction full database failed. Mismatch file format version. BCDx36HP sentinel installation might be corrupted. Please reinstall. Can't find database hpdb.cfg. If I look where it's looking for a database, it's not there. If I copy one there, it doesn't msolve anything. Could anyone give me procedure that I could follow step by step? It's really not working.

Just realized you listed your location as Canada. I'll bet your Sentinel program has a problem with Windows regional settings. Read this thread from other Canadian users...

Do you have the type of scanner set in Sentinel? Check under "Tools" then "Target Model."

You should be able to update the database without a scanner attached. It only updates the database on your computer even if the scanner is connected. The database in the scanner is updated when you Write to Scanner.

Are you using the correct version of Sentinel? There are two different versions of sentinel. Download the correct version only from this link.

If your version of Sentinel has an orange icon, that is the version for the HomePatrol scanners. For the BCD536HP, you need the version of Sentinel with the green icon.

To update database, go to the Update tab in Sentinel and click on Update Master Database. Who is your internet service provider? HoghesNet has high latency which can cause problems with FTP downloads from the Uniden server. T-Mobile blocks the FTP port used by Uniden.

That's when I get the error messages. My provider is Videotron in Quebec and I normally don't problems with them.

Thank you very much. It did solve my problem. Anyway, it's not a problem having a dot instead of a coma. I never got used to the coma anyway.

To all who have the same probem as I did, stop using the darn coma when you can use a dot instead. This is in the country parameters. If you are using french parameters like me, change them all to Canadian English and everything will work fine. Thanks to the person who signaled this anomaly to me, namely fsdscon. You are my saviour.
