Hi
I live in Pierce County and have had several different scanners that I have listened to over the years. Until lately. I cannot seem to pick up anything except a Tacoma channel and one from the reservation. I haven't changed any of my channels or settings on my scanner, but for some reason I am not picking up anything that I use to. Pierce County Sheriff and WSP is what I mainly listened to, but cant even hear anything from them. Did everyone change to a different frequency or something that I am not aware of?
Thanks for any info!

Have you perused the RR Database for Pierce County?

There seems to be several notes of recent changes, some involving "Phase-2". Are any of your scanners Phase-2 capable?

Tacoma & Pierce County

Over the past few years there have been big changes. My dad had a scanner running 24/7 in his garage and was shocked when Pierce County sheriff went quiet.

For Pierce County you'll need a digital Phase II capable scanner. Program this system: https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=5480

For Tacoma (PD) you'll want this system (also requires digital Phase II scanner): https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=8203

WASP is a little different. They are still on VHF (but often as P25) but also on several systems. It's nice to hear King County when in Pierce and other adjacent districts while traveling.

I like this one: https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=3509
And this one: https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=7971
