I am new to the scanning world. I am able to listen to AMR Bpt and the Med 9 repeater however I cannot hear the other med channels when the field units go to patch to St. V's or Bpt Hosp. All I can hear is the nurse acknowledging the unit and then at the end assigning a room. I have the output freq. for the med channels programmed, do I need do something to listen to the field units patch? My location is Bpt, very close to St. V's. I was also wondering if anyone knew the freq for Shelton EMS. I programmed the one listed on the database from this site but I dont get anything, even when I take my the scanner up to Shelton. I am not sure if distance from Bpt to Shelton would be a factor in not being able to listen but I can listen to Stratford EMS so I am not sure? I would greatly appreciate any advise, especially concerning the hospital patching. Thanks

Brideport doesn't use repeaters on the patches, if your close enough you can hear the Ambulance side of the things as long as you have both input and output frequencies entered in.
Shelton EMS is 453.9750 dpl 026 I can hear it fine almost into branford here.

Welcome To RadioReference!
If you listen to the med channels in the New Haven County area, you can hear both sides of the patches by just listening to the 463.XXX MHZ. side. SouthWest CMED is not set up that way. With them you have to first be close enough to hear the ambulance and second, be tuned in to 5 MHZ up on the 468.XXX MHZ. input side of things. It sucks I know, but that is how it is! The only diffference when tunning in is the PL tones. SouthWest uses 123.0 and SouthCentral uses 167.9. I lived in Fairfield County almost all my life. Trust me when I tell you, SouthCentral CMED is much more fun to listen to. Shelton and Stratford EMS have good strong repeaters. Thats why you can hear then so well...Take care

Additionally, in North Central area, CMED is supposed to (at least back when I worked in the area) drop the repeater during the actual med patch in an effort to minimize disclosure of medical info over the air. Sometimes they forget.
