Hi. I'm writing to ask if there has been a change to LAPD frequencies or whether you can help me troubleshoot a local scanner issue.

I have my BCD996P2 set up to monitor LAPD's four bureaus. Each bureau is a separate conventional system: Central, West, South, and Valley.

I've had it that way for a couple of months. I don't know when it started happening, but I noticed that I am only receiving traffic on the Central and Valley systems. If I monitor just South and West bureaus, nothing is heard, at all. The other systems are busy as usual, never a dull moment.

- I have dropped and recreated both systems from scratch. No change
- All frequencies come from the RR database
- Frequencies are limited to dispatch, dispatch fallback, and bureau tacs
- I live within the Valley bureau boundaries, have a basic indoor antenna, but good reception
- Settings (e.g., tone, mod, NAC, step, audio type, etc.) are identical in all systems
- I can hear other agencies throughout the county fine (LASD, CHP, County/City Fire)
- I can hear codes 3s from all bureaus via hot shots

Any suggestions you have would be great. Thanks.

I'm currently sitting in West LA and I'm hearing 77th and Southeast divisions in the South and Pacific and West Traffic in the West. I'm only following dispatch freqs and not much is going on at the moment. Other than verifying that freqs are being used, I don't have any suggestions. I'm not familiar with the 996 and my first thought was they were just locked out. I assume you checked that out but then you recreated the systems.

Since I only follow dispatch at the moment, I can only verify 6, 8, and 22 and what you have is correct. All three have had traffic that I have monitored within the last 10 minutes.

Good luck, wish I could help more.

This looks like a reception issue. I brought my radio to my office in Pasadena, about 30 miles away. Now I can only get Valley frequencies, and those are from the ones closest to me: Foothill, Mission, Devonshire.

I no longer receive transmissions from Oat Mountain either, and I live on Oat Mountain. I'll rig a nice discone in the attic and see what happens.

I am able to hear all of the systems that you want to listen too from at least 40 miles away. But I am using a Diamond Discone from 30 feet up in the attic

All of LAPD dispatch and tacs are operational. Monitored all you listed on my commute this morning and no issues. Recent inclement weather could've been a factor for you especially due to the range you were attempting to monitor them from.
