I have some backup software (GFI Backup 3.0) that I found really doesn't work very well on my Win7 starter netbook, so I would like to get rid of it. But both CCleaner (which is normally excellent at doing this) and Control Panel refuse it, saying it can't open the install log.

It's gulping resources even if it's not being used (Security Explorer shows it running in the background). How do I get rid of this monster?

Thanks in advance..Mike

Have you gone to the directory it's at,and deleted everything in it? Also go to the registry and find every instance of that program and delete those also. You could try also before doing those to kill the exe that's running in task manager then try to uninstall it either through control panel or the uninstall part of the program in the start menu, then if that doesn't work do the delete directory and registry removal method(tedious I know)

Hi, You want to boot up in Windows safe mode and use the uninstaller to remove the program. You could also use system restore to go back to a earlier settings in your computer so the program will no longer be on your computer.
