Just thought I'd pass this on. Around noon today (05/18/05) heard a couple of cfd units calling out of service for radio training. System change maybe?

This question is mainly for Scott, but if you happen to know the answer then please respond.

On the Canton/Stark county site, before, I could only hear Canton on Canton's and Stark on theirs. Now I hear Stark and Canton on Canton's but still just Stark on their own as well. Does anyone know if they may be combining like Summit and Akron did? Thanks in advance.

As of right now, it's anyone's guess. Since I don't know anyone 'in the know' down there, it's difficult to make any guesses.

Then I shall ask some of the guys and I'll let ya know. I remembered Tonya askin' this question and just yesterday I had Canton open in my bank and started hearing the SO. I'd rather hear the SO on Canton's site anyway, cuz they sound better for some reason. Hmmm...

Hey Scott, and all in the Stark County area. A friend on the Nimashilin VFD told me that SCD will soon stop dispatching for the area Fire Depts. Nimashilin I guess will be taking over for dispatch, and they will be giong to 800 MHz. He wasn't sure if it would be digital or not, or when all of this will be starting. And he said it may be a TRS.

I just thought I'd pass the word, and if anybody else knows any more info I'm all ears.

I have a friend in the news media up there. Nimishillen Township is building a new Fire Station (#3, I think?) on Columbus Road near State Road #44. The basement of this facility was originally supposed to house an east dispatching center for one of the private dispatching companies (I thought he said it was RED Center, but it might have been SCD). I guess the company in question ran out of money or something and Nimishillen Township decided to take over the operation. What I do not know is if said private company will cease to exist after this changeover, and all dispatching will be transferred to Nimishillen, or just the departments that were to be dispatched from the new Fire House. I can't imagine either SCD or RED transferring all of their dispatching over to Nimishillen; they both seem to have their hands pretty well full.

I'll be talking with him soon, so hopefully I'll find out more.[/i]

To my knowledge I believe it's SCD, because they currently dispatch for Nim. and Perry Twp. But like you said, I can't imagine they will be transfering all of the agencies to Nimishilin.

SCD is Stark Community Dispatch which also dispatches for Suffield FD in Portage County

That is correct. I just wonder when all of this is suppose to happen.
When I rode by the site of the new fire station (about a month ago), they didn't even have the foundation in. :D

Just curious about something (sorry to keep buggin' ya'll about it) but I noticed a little high pitched ring while I have the cc for the Stark Co SO on manual. I notice very little on the other cc's in the area but not as much as Stark's. Does anybody else around here picking it up as well?

Now my question is, is that what the "interference" sounds like? I noticed it before but never really thought about it.

Hello, 464.375 is Stark County Alert team #645... I think founded in mid 1970's?? They have a repeater at nim station 2 and also 25 watt mobile repeater. Most stark co FDs have this freq in thier radios. Also 464.375 is shared with glenmoore country club, but listen cus you usualy here more of what is going at the scene. Used to be a member 10 years ago, saw my share of mayhem. Now I just listen......

I was thinkin' of joining too, but I've seen more than enough. I live in Louisville now, and not much happens there so I'm looking for some cool stuff to listen to. Anybody in this area have any suggestions?

Also for the DOT in this area, anybody know what they are using? I have their Low-band freqs, just wondering if they are utilizing MARCS yet.

ODOT frequencies can be found in the RR DB. They are not going to MARCS any time soon. The only ODOT use on MARCS is for oversize loads and coordination between Columbus and those units.
