Within the last week, Plain Township FD has been very active on their talkgroup 19632. Tones are still going out on the UHF frequency, but the vast majority of the routine traffic is now on the TRS.

I thought they had been using it more than normal.

Tonight, I overheard plans from Tim W. (from the Stark Co. EMA) that Plain Fire will move their dispatch center into StarComm at the Sheriff's office and use their 800mhz talkgroups as primary full time communications.

I am not sure on the time frame of this but it sounded like it would happen very soon.

New Talkgroup?

I started hearing 19728 on the Stark County site tonight, sounds like a fire department. Does anybody know who this might be?

You beat me to it, I was just going to post the same thing. I often wondered if Louisville FD channel 2 should be the 19728 and not 20016 as posted in the RR database. I have never heard anything on that talkgroup.

It's been a while since I've been on here, but does anyone have any updates on when this system may be rebanded? Along with an updated set of TG's...

For the past month I have receiving Canton/Stark traffic in the 792 to 793 range. It is the same as the 800, but it is conv. I have also been receiving the Akron/Summit system the same way. Does anyone know if they are to change to the 700 freqs?

I've heard those freqs as well. I really didn't pay any attention, because I figured that they were (not sure what they're actually called)"images". I checked the FCC database for the county, and I didn't see any issued for the county yet.

You're probably hearing "images" of the real frequency, especially if you happen to be using a PRO-196/107, PSR-500/600 or PSR-800 to search those frequencies.

I am using a Pro 106 and Pro 18. They 700's are being used daily by both Canton/Stark and Akron/ Summit. I have listened to both radios and hear the same discussions.

When I listen to the Pro 18 I have received a NAC of OA5 for Canton/Stark and NAC 270 for Akron/Summit.
Everything that I receive is analog.

Analog with NAC ?? I don't think so. Also those frequencies you listed are bogus. I think you are hearing images or intermod or something else other than legitmate systems. JMHO.

ED,

When I stated analog that was in error. My scanner shows them as P25 with the NAC. I entered them in the scanner as conventional and receive them that way.

I'm not hearing any of those frequencies in upper Summit county. They may exist down where you are but nothing up here.

The first two digits of the NAC on a Type II system are the last 2 digits of the system ID. The Stark County system's ID is 8E0A, and Summit County's is 8d27, so the NACs of 0A5 and 270 are coming from there. They're images of the 800 MHz frequencies that are actually being used. (The Pro-106 definitely has issues with images. I don't know if the Pro-18 does, but it wouldn't surprise me.)

Also, those frequencies are outside of the 700MHz narrowband public safety range (see http://transition.fcc.gov/pshs/docs/public-safety-spectrum/700mhz-chart-segments.pdf). I don't know if you'll avoid all images by doing this, but it may help to confine your searching to the specific ranges listed in the link above (769-775 and 799-805). In fact, 799-805 is the mobile portion of the band, so if you're just looking for new trunking systems you can stick to 769-775.

To be honest, I never knew that. Thanks for the tip!
