Code:
I have been playing around with fmp24, dsd and a cap+ system. From what I could
tell by the license, there are 5 freqs. I did as the txt file said and numbered
them all 99. On 2 of the freqs, they came up as second cap+ repeater ch 3 and 4.
One freq came up first cap+ repeater ch 1 and 2. I have not been able to get the
remaining freqs to display the repeater info.

My Dsd freq file

; Cap+ WQMA924 - CONNETQUOT

Cap+, 8888, 1, 99, 462.4500, 0.0. 0 "1st repeater ch 1 & 2"
Cap+, 8888, 1, 99, 463.8375, 0.0, 0 "2nd repeater ch 3 & 4"
Cap+, 8888, 1, 99, 451.3000, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 8888, 1, 99, 464.9625, 0.0, 0
Cap+, 8888, 1, 99, 464.6375, 0.0, 0 "2nd repeater ch 3 & 4"

I have 464.9625 running in sdrsharp and dsd lists ch 1 - 4 with ch 3 and 4 as the rest
channel.

Fmp24 is set for 463.8375 and it lists ch 1 - 4 with ch 3 and 4 as the rest channel.

Watching both in the 2 dsd activity windows show both rest channels going from 3 to
4 and 4 to 3 at the same time.

I guess my question is how do you tell if it's a multi site cap system? The license
lists 2 control points in the same time town. The freqs page only offers you to list
freqs by 2 locations, the town, and the radius around the town. I have heard some
voice calls while watching 464.4500 in fmp24 but also see different calls while
watching 464.9625 in sdrsharp. Is there a setting that I missed to have dsd list all
the repeaters? I let it run over night with them all numbered as 99 and it did not
display any repeater info. Do they need to be number 1 3 5 7 to scan and display
repeater info?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

ULS is often useless (at best) for finding missing frequencies. At this point, you should forget about ULS data and begin manually searching for DMR frequencies by (1) conducting band-searches of the entire UHF band with a hardware scanner and listening for VERY annoying motorboat sounds, which are hard to miss if the signal is somewhat decent, and/or (2) using SDR# and DSD+ to randomly scroll on every frequency you find and watching for activity on the DSD+ terminal window. With a little practice, you will quickly start finding missing & new frequencies/systems.

Based on your screenshots, you have a Cap+ system with 2 frequencies (4 OTA channels) detected by DSD+. Unless you see something different in the DSD+ terminal log or the bottom of the event window, the default site # = 1. At this point, I would delete your existing frequency file entries for system 8888, and monitor individual frequencies with DSD+ which you believed to associated with this system to verify the appropriate OTA channel pair.

Hi.

Have you also added the entries in .networks and .sites files for that system?

eg. .networks:
Cap+,8888, "CAP+ System Name"

eg. .sites:
Cap+,8888,1,"Location"

Also once your frequencies resolve to "1st repeater ch 1 & 2" change that frequencies "OTAchannelNumber" from "99" to "1". Remember that LCN 1 and 2 are Slot 1 and 2 so they will be the same frequency. No need to add LCN 2 , DSD will figure that out.

eg. .frequencies
Cap+, 8888, 1, 1, 462.4500, 0.0. 0 "1st repeater ch 1 & 2"
Cap+, 8888, 1, 3, 463.8375, 0.0, 0 "2nd repeater ch 3 & 4"

This should now resolve the system names/freq in the channel activity window.
If these frequencies are the same system and you have a good signal then DSD should follow it. If there are more frequencies then as time passes the unknown LCNs will displayed in the channel activity window.
Depends on system activity if they come alive.

Determining Cap+ single frequency or multi frequency can be a pain. I've seen single frequency Cap+ that resolves to LCN 3,4 and never 1,2. I find using 2 x Dongles/SDR# to expand the visible spectrum and watching the waterfall and looking for the pulses and when the rest channel changes.

Hope this helps some.

Cheers

Yes, I set a network of 8888 with a name. I set a site with a name. And I had all the freqs set to 99.
I have a definite first Cap+ repeater, ch 1& 2.
I have a definite second Cap+ repeater ch 3 & 4.
I had a another second Cap+ repeater ch 3 &4.
The last freq has had active comms but has yet to say what repeater it is.

I wanted to leave FMPA scanning/ running with dsdplus overnight, but FMPA will stop on a digital comm, and resume scanning after a second. It will not stay parked while there is an active transmission. I had the same results with fmp24. I did set the freqs in the scanlist to reflect a digital emission designator .

462.4500, "cap 1" , 40.8153, -73.1782, "7K60FXE", "ch 1 & 2" ; NY
463.8375, "cap 2" , 40.8153, -73.1782, "7K60FXE", "ch 3 & 4" ; NY
464.6375, "con 1" , 40.8153, -73.1782, "7K60FXE", "" ; NY
464.9625, "con 2" , 40.8153, -73.1782, "7K60FXE", "" ; NY
451.3000, "con 3" , 40.8153, -73.1782, "7K60FXE", "" ; NY

The other problem with fmp24 was that as it was scanning thru the freqs, it was showing am on top of the window, and saying lock out. Then it would hit one freq and switch to fm, and I could here digital buzz. But after a second it would resume scanning even tho the active transmission was not finished.

This is what fmp24 displays. I am not sure where its getting "AM" from or where its being told to lock out a freq.

I found this post and set a few different digital modes but no luck.

Any how, I know all 4 of the above freqs are related because I hear the same voices and see the same 2 tg's, 100 and 200. All 4 freqs are on the same license and the only locations listed are the town, and the radius around the town.

Check that you are using the right file name for the FMP your using.

FMP = FMP.ScanList
FMP24 = FMP24.ScanList
FMPA = FMPA.ScanList

I think your line format for your .ScanList file is incorrect.
should be:

118.3 AM BW=12.5 DELAY=2 Miami Tower

see the notes.txt that you got with DSD+ v2.18 Fastlane for more info.
see it under "New FMP24.ScanList file options:"

I think what your using is for the .CSV file.

I think scanning multi frequency trunk systems with FMP/DSD does not follow calls. It uses carrier detection so when a call moves to new frequency DSD+ decides transmission has ended then continues to the next frequency in the .ScanList

Cheers.

Ok, I changed the fmpascanlist to the following.

462.4500 DMR BW=12.5 DELAY=20 Miami Tower
463.8375 FM BW=12.5 DELAY=20 Miami Tower
464.6375 DMR BW=12.5 DELAY=10 Miami Tower
464.9625 FM BW=12.5 DELAY=20 Miami Tower

It starts right up scanning, but still only stays on a transmission for about 1 second, even tho I set the delay for 20 seconds. I alternated between dmr and fm. All 4 freqs are cap+ freqs. This is driving me crazy. Do you use fmpa or fmp24 to scan? I would like to see a confirmed working scanlist file if you have one.

If you have (for example) two frequencies which you suspect might be associated with the same Cap+ or Con+ system, I would monitor them both simultaneously with 2 discrete, manual (non-trunking mode) instances of DSD+ and FMP24 (with 2 dongles, of course). Once the frequencies become active, it's fairly easy to tell if the voice grants on each frequency are associated with the same system, as well as the applicable OTA channel pairs.

I think you should have all like:

462.4500 DMR BW=12.5 DELAY=20 Miami Tower
463.8375 DMR BW=12.5 DELAY=20 Miami Tower
464.6375 DMR BW=12.5 DELAY=10 Miami Tower
464.9625 DMR BW=12.5 DELAY=20 Miami Tower

I know there is alot of ambiguity in the documentation.

The "Rest" channel is where it should start following from. But because it pulses when idle FMP can't lock on to it when scanning.

I use FMP24. I don't scan multi frequency DMR networks (TIII,Con+,Cap+). FMP won't work that way. You manually have to change between networks. I only do conventional DMR scanning.

Cheers

The docs show those scanlist options (like BW and DELAY) being available in FMP24 v2.11; they don't say anything about them being applicable to FMPA.

FMPA.txt implies that FMP24 and FMPA are the same and the differences are list in that file.

"Options and features exclusive to FMPA are covered in this document."
"FMPA vs FMP differences:"

That's what I mean about how the documentation is ambiguous.

FMPA.txt is part of the 1.101 public release, so a year old now. I don't think FMP24 even existed back then. The fast lane change log shows the scanlist BW and DELAY options being added features in FMP24. There is no mention of FMPA, so I would think they are FMP24-only features. The 1.101 docs for DSD+, FMP, FMPA and trunking procedures say nothing about all of the newer features that are listed in the fast lane change log, but how is that ambiguous?

I understand what your saying. If I were an Airspy user and paid for the Fast Lane version only to get a out of date FMPA version I'd be a little annoyed.

Maybe 'DSDPlus' could clarify this point.

Everyone would benefit from a updated 'User Manual' that reflects the changes since v1.101 public release. Rather the comparing DSDPlus.txt and FMP24.txt and Notes.txt.
I noticed that there are some undocumented items as well.

Hopefully the OP has sorted out his issues. Any further discussion on this I guess should be a new thread.

Cheers.
