Does anyone know what frequency range that the remotes use to enable or disable a car alarm?

Also with all those car alarms that are out there how do they not accidently unlock someone else s car/truck, what kind of systems is being used.

Thanks

With modern alarm systems, such as Viper, the encryption key is so long that security is not a concern as it was 20 years ago with car alarms. That being said, I had top-of-the-line aftermarket alarm systems on two of my vehicles and I would never have it again. About twice a year the vehicle unlocked itself for no apparent reason, usually at certain times of the year, early spring and late fall. The combination of humidity and temperature somehow triggered the change. Aftermarket alarms always have minor bugs like that. I had a couple other minor problems with them.

Alot of the old stuff is in the 290, 310 315 MHz range some of the newer stuff for international use is 432-433MHz range. The new TPMS system equipped cars are sharing the OEM keyless entry receivers with the remote entry fob and they are in the same place.
