A friend sent me this he used to be a Mobile Police officer. I guess someone there sent him the link. It starts off a little shakey but it clears up. The audio is hard to understand but I don't think you need it. This chase starts in Moblie and ends up in a small town north if it called Prichard. It is about 12 minutes long, lots of shots fired!!! I forgot the link it is http://www.wpmi.com/mediacenter/default.aspx?videoId=116691 Hope it works.

It most definitely works. That is one of the best videos of an officer performing exceptionally in the most stressful situation imagineable. Hopefully that officer receives commendations for his excellent work!

Amen! I can't even imagine being in his shoes. Unfortunately around here, the chase would have been called off long before the perps got around to stopping. Way to go!

I find it amazing that it took over 10 minutes for any back-up units to arrive! This could have gone sideways really quickly. We had a similar incident a few months back where an off-duty officer came across a bank robbery in progress. A chase ensued and ended in a shoot-out. Multiple officers from several agencies in the county responded and the suspect was DOA on-scene. The suspect was heavily armed and I don't want to think about what could have happened if the back-up was delayed.

Was it me, or did I see him pass another cruiser while he was still on the expressway?

Yeah, that definitely looked like a cruiser. Could've been from another out-of-area agency or perhaps a rent-a-cop.

If this is Mobile Police they should be ashamed to even let people see this. So they only have one police car on duty during the day??? You call for help here in SC and its like killer bees.

YES

YES I AGREE.THEY SHOULD KILL HIS ASS VERY SLOWLY ALONG WITH ALL THE OTHER SCUM THAT SCREWS OUR SOCIETY UP.WHY SHOULD THE PERPS OF THESE CRIMES EVEN HAVE ANY RIGHTS? WHY DO THE POLICE AND THE LAW ABIDING CITIZENS IN THIS COUNTRY HAVE TO FIGHT AND FEAR THESE WASTE OF LIFE? I DON'T MEAN TO GET OFF THE TOPIC OF THE FORUMS,BUT I JUST CAN'T HELP IT. IF PRO IS THE OPPISITE OF CON,THEN IS PROGRESS THE OPPISITE OF CONGRESS? WHO THE HELL IS FIGHTING FOR THESE PEOPLES RIGHTS WHEN THEY ARE HURTING OTHER PEOPLE?I AM NOT AN EXTREMIST, BUT I AM STARTING TO FELL A LITTLE BIT MORE LIKE ONE SOMETIMES. YES WE SHOULD LET GOD BE THE ULTIMATE JUDGE,BUT WE HAVE OFFICERS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY PUTTING THEIR LIVES IN DANGER TO PROTECT US,WHEN MOST OF THE SCUM COMMITING THESE CRIMES HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN AND OUT,AND IN AND OUT,AND IN AND OUT OF JAIL,ONLY TO BE RELEASED TO DO IT AGAIN.I THINK THE POLICE SHOULD BE ABLE TO CARRY AUTOMATIC WEAPONS AND REALLY REALLY SHOW THEM WE MEAN BUSINESS!! :D

shooting in the car

I am an experienced shooter, so I feel really bad for the officer's eardrums.

WOW!! I was on the edge of my seat...very intense!! Very odd that back up wasn't there...with a situation like that there is usually more back up than you need. The officer did a great job though!!

I didn't catch the markings on the car they passed on I-65....it did appear to have the newer clear whelen bars that Mobile PD is switching to, tho.

I did hear one officer say he was enroute from I-65 & Springhill, so he wasn't too terribly far behind the pursuing officer. It would take a little bit to catch up, given the traffic on I-65.

Also, I heard the MPD dispatcher say that Pritchard had a unit with him. At one point, the officer says something about Pritchard being there too.

I also noticed that they were talking about the officer's AVL or the AVL system itself and that it was not working.

Mobile uses a smartnet system, while most other agencies use the County's EDACS system.

That officer did an outstanding job!

I would have gotten in trouble for passing on the right once my supervisors re-wound the tape and played it back. Been there and done that on the way to a shooting in progress at a fast food place a few years back :(

I Agree!!

Bring Back Public Executions! I Don't Want To Say Bring Back Public Hangings For That Might Be Politically Uncorrect, For The Crap Times And Crap Government We Deal With Today!!! Black Or White, male Or Female, short Or Tall, fat Or Skinny, rich Or Poor, young Or Old,it Does Not Matter.you Committed The Crime, now You Should Have To Pay The Price.
