The way the state system is set up, you can only hear a conversation if at least one radio on the repeater you are listening to is tuned to that channel. For the dispatch channels, this is fine, because you can listen to Arapahoe County Dispatch, for example, on Littleton, Greenwod Village, Smokey Hill, Glendale and maybe others. Same for Douglas County. I can hear Douglas County Dispatch and Parker Dispatch on the Greenwood Village site. I have my banks set up by county - Arapahoe in one, Adams in another, Jefferson in another and Douglas in another. But when they go to a secondary channel, it seems the dispatch is very limited. Does anybody have a good way to listen to those? For example, with Arapahoe County I miss many of the car-to-car talks because I have Greenwood Village as the primary site for Arapahoe County, and if the units are east, they use Smokey Hill. One thing I wondered is, is dispatch tuned in to all of the secondary channels. I know they will be in on channel 2, for example, but what about car-to-car? The idea being that if you are listening to the tower that dispatch listens to, you would be able to hear it all? Does anybody know what towers each dispatch is on? I would guess Castle Rock probably is the tower that Castle Rock PD dispatch and maybe Douglas County dispatch is normally on? I can't hear Castle Rock from where I live, but I can hear West Creek. Just wanted to know what other people think about this idea.
