Care Flight / REMSA - Freq's

462.975 seems to have Care Flight crew calling as well as most Washoe Med traffic but I can not seem to locate the Care Flight in flight and air to ground freq's.

Can anyone tell me how to find these? I checked several DB's including this one but no apparent match. Also what happened to REMSA freq's?

I'm told that the freq's for REMSA are those allocated to Washoe Regional Medical with 462.975 is actually Remsa dispatch. However I still don't hear in car communications.

On the Care Flight front I find a listing for 111KV as the sole helicopter ambulance operator in Washoe County yet can not seem to locate the frequncy(s) used by this licensee.

Can anyone help me navigate the FCC database to find the freq's used by a given license.

467.9750F-2

462.9500F-1
467.9500F-2

UHF frequencies are duplex and the spacing is 5Mhz apart.

Here in Churchill County they transmit on Churchill S.O. 155.195
and as they go east they switch to Elko.

Care Flight is apparently broadcasting on the Flight for Life freq's used by Sunrise Hospital and their air ambulance service in Las Vegas.

REMSA uses the standard MED channels - Med 9 and 10 are used for dispatch the others are used for communications between Hospital and Ambulance - any channel in the group may be used - Additionally the Careflight choppers have access to the Washoe County 800mhz EDACS system and probably a bunch of other stuff too.

When you get out of washoe county, you find air rescue/med evac/access air/care flight - whatever you want to call it - transmitting on the local sheriff office frequencies. This is because every county except for those in the reno tahoe area and clark county don't have very much radio traffic and they can afford to have air ambulance traffic on their channels. In elko county i am paged for ambulance and fire on the county SO channel and so are all of the other towns and also the med evac chopper.

Just a guess, but they may be using satellite communications. I don't know much about Care Flight, but REACH (Redwood Empire Air Care Helicopter) uses satellite for dispatch communications. They still use conventional radios for communicating with hospitals and scene personnel. Since rotor-wing and fixed-wing aircraft travel much further than traditional ground public safety units and work at varying altitudes, they would have problems with relying on conventional radios or standard cellphones. The distance between helicopter and satellite remains RELATIVELY constant (actually varies more ). :?

since care flight travels so far, they probably just switch repeaters depending on where they're going. that's what access air did in elko. i heard care flight talking to an NDF engine on the ground coordinating an LZ at boomtown for the rollover yesterday that made the news. they've also been known to make an appearance on TM Main.

guys, careflight is a division of REMSA, which is a division of WashoeMed. They use FAA freqs for tower to RNO, and med channels for hospitals, and when on scene, they contact on the FD channels.

Care Flight runs most of their stuff over the Med channells 1-10. Med 8 4 & 5 seem to be used most frequently. They recently added a digital paging system. They still use Med 10 for some of the paging for both the ground service and helicopter . For example, you will hear tones and the then the dispatcher "Care Flight 1,2,3 or 4 you have a flight request". The details of the request are then sent over the digital pagers. The do have sat phones. All 4 of their ships have a sat tracking system that their dispatch monitors. All 4 of their ships have radios that can tx & rx from VHF-low on up. Back in the old days (1980's), we called those radios 9600 channel radios. Also, REMSA is not part of Washoe Med. or Washoe Health System it is a stand alone not for profit company. It started out in the early 80's as AAAWC (Air Ambulance Authority of Washoe County) They had a single helicopter back then. They operated a fixed wing service for a short time. They took over the ground ambulance services in 1987. Thats when the Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority came to be.

REMSA/Careflight

REMSA helicopters (careFlight) are equipped with a Wulfsberg RT9600 radio with three radio bands 30-50, 136-174, and 450-470. They primarily use mednets as stated earlier, and use ATC frequencies to coordinate with RNO ATC and other landing sites, such as the Burning Man Airstrip when that event is functioning. I sold them more than half a dozen Globalstar satphones for the helos, as well as some special events they require them for. REMSA was negotiating with Washoe to become part of the 800meg system, however, the vendor wants them to convert completely with ALL their units at once, as well as pay an exhorbitant monthly 'buyin' or 'share' agreement which is prohibitive for them at this time. I use a MACOM Jaguar portable to monitor the EDACS systems, and have a newer Allied/Wulfsberg RT5000 30-990 radio in my vehicle for comms. Well, plus 3 Spectras, a railroad Spectra, 2 Kenwood 90 Series mobiles and a Kenwood ham rig.....I quit counting all the portables a few years back.....
