Careflight-4 Montrose Alerting - Silent?

Greetings!

Wondered if any Montrose area folks have noticed the Careflight-4 alerting freq 151.700 has gone silent? I’m on the fringe myself in the Paonia area, so I suppose something could’ve changed with the base transmitter affecting the signal strength, but I’ve not heard even the airborne ship either. I can’t be sure on exact timeline but it’s been ’weeks’ I’d say.

Thanks!

Mike

Yep, I noticed it, and thought I had an antenna problem, but checking things out the antenna was fine. It's been a couple of months now.
Not sure where they have moved to, not hearing any traffic on the DTRS TG that is dispatch, just once they are going airborne, etc.
Keep in mind that some of the aeromed outfits use the cellular PTT type systems, if that's the case we may be out of luck.

Thanks for the reply, N0NHJ! Yeah my wife was in Montrose all day yesterday and I sent her with a radio on record for the day - total silence. You may be right re: a cellular based system. I will do some rooting around in the FCC DB, although I don’t think that 151.700 was ever registered to them.

It's an itinerant frequency, and I did find a license at one time. That license also had a UHF spliter frequency licensed at Montrose, but I had never heard anything on it. Not sure why they would switch bands, which would mean replacing pagers, radios, etc.

I wonder if the reason for the silence is indeed the issue of not being FCC-registered on the itinerant. Perhaps they’ll be back on that original freq. once resolved.

Yes I think I remember seeing in the past them being in the FCC DB on 464.550 or 464.500 but never heard them there.

Air Methods 'recently' (July) registered frequency 159.600 in Montrose under callsign WSDS858. I've been monitoring it for a couple days and just now verified a toneout for CF4 on this freq., with PL 146.2. I'll get it submitted to the DB admins.
