Open Sky

So if they are swapping the radios out with new Open Sky radios will the problem get any better? Most likely not.

The City of Milwaukee,WI is eagerly awaiting it's Opensky system to be fully working. They been waiting 6+ years for it, hopefully this one will actually work.

Harris wins award

Look at the following: Harris wins an award but not for any of it's "secure" systems such as Open Sky.

The Unity XG-100 supports digital APCO P25 secure and analog FM communications across VHF, UHF, 700 MHz and 800 MHz public safety bands in a single portable radio. Its capabilities enable first responders to use a single radio

Well, if this radio works, and it looks like the user don't have to swap antennas to change bands, then good for Harris. Serious competiton for Thale's Liberty. Any one find it interesting that Harris left OpenSky out of the radio. hmmmm. Maybe an indication of the direction Harris intends to take with the future of OpenSky.

And if that antenna is truly quad band VHF/UHF/700/800, I want to know what the connector is. The antenna for this radio may become a sought after item for folks with handheld scanners.
