The following information update has been made for: Carter Lake Fire

A fire is currently burning in an area reported to be southeast of Carter Lake in grass and little timber, so far. At last report, it is said to be approximately 15-20 acres and growing. Berthoud Fire Department and Larimer Co. Sheriff's Office Emergency Services have responded and are on the fire. One Single Engine Air Tanker has beeen working the fire and a second "SEAT" is ordered. There is no current word on mandatory or voluntary evacuations but we will report any developments here and at 498-5500. Evacuation notices themselves will be made with our emeregncy phone notification system ("reverse 9-1-1"). Further information on this fire will depend on the urgency of the situation.

LARIMER COUNTY - A wildfire was 50 percent contained Friday evening after it burned around 40 acres near Berthoud.

Authorities say no structures were lost to the North View Road Fire and no one was injured.

The fire was down to around 20-25 acres in size by 8:30 p.m. Authorities say the humid and cool weather helped them with the fire.

The Larimer County Sheriff's office was notified about the fire around 11:20 a.m.

It is southwest of Carter Lake and was burning in a north-northwest direction.

Loveland, Johnstown, Hygiene and Berthoud fire departments and Larimer County Emergency Services are working the fire.

A single engine air tanker is also working the fire and a second has been requested.

No evacuations have been ordered because of the fire.

The Larimer County Sheriff's office says the fire started because a homeowner had some heavy equipment that hit a rock which caused a spark. He apparently tried to put it out but had to call for help.
