I need some info: Newport Fire and Police, Morehead City, NC Highway Patrol, Carteret County Sheriff Frequencies and tell me if they are trunked
I was wondering if a RS Pro-94 will work kfor this area?

The Pro 94 would work for those agencies you listed.

RadioReference has a database of trunked and conventional frequencies, divided by state, then county.

The North Carolina page is at:
http://radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&stid=37

From there, simply choose the county you wish to look at.

Besides the information on Radio Reference, I see Newport has licenses for several frequencies:
- 154.145 and 154.280 for the fire department
- 155.550 (I presume the police department)
- 155.925 (I presume a public works channel)

The 94 is an OK scanner for learning basic scanning, and trunking.

Its shortfalls are as follows-
No Digital
No Alpha Tagging
No CTCSS/CDCSS
No LTR Trunking.

Its positives are-
1000 Chans
Can Trunk Track and do conventional simultaneously
Has AutoBacklight
Has Trunking Delay
Simple to program manually.
Is not too hard on battery life, and has simple switch for rechargable/non recharge batts. (No specail pack needed like some of the RS scanners)

And if thier actually would be a software designed for it.. the newer 94 B's have a PC/IF jack.
