As of three days ago. I get minimal activity on the Cary side, and little to no activity on the Wake side. I don't think Simulcast is the issue. Because they were both fine three days ago. Any ideas? TIA

I am laughing, because I always forget the ever trusty Squelch.I don't get a lot of useful activity on the Cary side anyway because a lot of what's on the Cary side is encrypted, at least for law. But I do still hear things on both sides. I haven't noticed a particular drop within the past couple of days or anything though. Are you sure your squelch didn't get bumped?
I am still miffed about their encryption that has spread to my home town of Morrisville. Did you see the dustup in Chicago about their move to encryption? wow..@BCasto lately I've been thinking about this and am kind of thinking the same thing. I've been considering not monitoring the Cary side any more because I think you're right, most of the action is on the county system, and the Cary system doesn't seem to have much that's useful (that's not carried on the other side anyway).

Morrisville went encrypted because they switched to the Cary core and have a CAM (Cary/Apex/Morrisville) contract/agreement now. Happened in 2018, and you can find the entire report online why Morrisville and Apex moved to Cary.
While trying to Google the doc(I haven't been able to find it), I came across this report out of Chicago:That's a really interesting doc. Thanks for sharing that! It makes me think I'm wrong about the way the Wake system is set up though. I always thought the system had two sides that shared a data center, similar to Durham/Fayetteville, but after reading some of that I doubt they share anything. They seem to be directly competing with each other and Cary has ambitions of taking over all of Wake County from the way that doc is written. Am I seeing that right?

Critics: encryption of police scanners in Chicago puts public safety at risk
Each police radio zone is composed of one or two police districts. At least nine zones have been encrypted as of May of this year – so now residents cannot tune in. CBS 2 Investigator Megan Hickey reports.www.cbsnews.com
Near the end of the report, it mentions a bunch of cities in the U.S. that have encrypted their PD. But Palo Alto(CA) has unencrypted their radio traffic.
